CAIRO METRO LINE 1 UPGRADING AND RENOVATION

The Cairo metro network's metro line 1 will be rehabilitated as part of the project. The signalling system, telecommunications equipment, centralised control system, power supply, track maintenance, and electrical and mechanical systems are all part of the rehabilitation.

The project is intended to save existing metro line 1 customers a considerable amount of time while also adding capacity to satisfy increased demand that would otherwise be absorbed by less environmentally friendly forms of transportation. The metro line improvement will increase the reliability of the present metro service while also reducing peak-hour headways. It will provide a quick and economical mode of transportation for the general public, particularly for those who cannot afford to buy a private car. Furthermore, due to the anticipated mode shift from road to public transportation, the project will result in lower vehicle operating costs, lower air pollution, and fewer accidents.

The EIB's new "Economic Resilience" initiative, which aims to increase economic resilience in adjacent countries by updating and expanding economic and social infrastructure and boosting growth, may provide funding for this project. Job creation and long-term development.
